From the Principal

This week, your child’s Semester One report will be coming home. We encourage you to take a moment to celebrate the impressive growth and progress they’ve made — our students put in a tremendous amount of effort! A heartfelt thank you to our dedicated teachers for the time and care they put into writing these reports. It’s a true joy to read them and see just how well our teachers know and understand each student.
Our students have had an amazing week of fun and festivities. Our Wellbeing Days were a huge success full of variety and engagement for all our students. I wish to say thank you to Jess and staff of the Wellbeing team and all the school support received from activity leaders Dr Sunpreet and the Country Care Dental team and Nick Hose and the trainers from Infinite Health Co.
Happy Birthday Milo Monkey, another year older and has not seemed to have aged a day! I am impressed by the invested efforts of students, families and staff to celebrate this important day. Our Kindergarten friends were very joyous to have received a visit from the well dressed Foundation students.
With just one week left in Term 2, it's a perfect time to reflect with gratitude on the many opportunities we've experienced. We feel incredibly fortunate. A heartfelt thank you to all our families for your continued support in helping us nurture and guide our students — we are truly grateful.
Please remember we are finishing the term on Thursday at normal time as Friday will be a closure day for staff to continue our ReLATE Training.
Have a wonderful holiday break, shared with those you love. Hopefully I will see you at the Family Movie Night on Wednesday July 9th at the Warrnambool Capitol Cinema.

It is easy to think of peace as something that is needed in places far away, especially as we see the unfolding crisis this week in the Middle East. The seed of peace is in every human heart. The following prayer by the late Pope Francis, invites Christians to reflect that the creation of peace actually begins with every person and every community. Peace is not a distant concept, needed somewhere else, its possibility is in our own hands to create.
Lord God of Peace, hear our prayer!

Winter Woolies Day

This Thursday, the 3rd of July is Winter Woolies Day where students can dress casually in Winter outfits. This is not a Footy Day or PJ Day, so please just dress in winter wooly clothes!
Thursday is a regular school day, and we will not be finishing early.
P&F Movie Night
The Parents and Friends are running a movie night during the school holidays, in Warrnambool on Wednesday the 9th of July.
Tickets are available for purchase at the school office.
A small pop corn, drink of their choice (water or soft drink) and a Bulla choc top will be included in the ticket price.
Details of the night are below.

Students of the Week

Important Changes to Numeracy Reporting
Victorian Curriculum F–10 Version 2.0 Curriculum Updates 2025
The Victorian Curriculum F–10 Version 2.0 gives Victoria's students the best opportunity to thrive in a world of increasing change and rapid technological advancement. It reflects the expertise and feedback of Victorian teachers, making it easier for them to plan, assess and report on student learning.
The overarching structure of the Victorian Curriculum F–10 Version 2.0 has not changed from Victorian Curriculum F–10 Version 1.0. The names and purpose of the learning areas, capabilities and cross-curriculum priorities remain the same. This recognises the continuing importance of a discipline-based approach to learning, where learning areas are regarded as both enduring and dynamic, supported by clearly articulated capabilities and cross-curriculum perspectives. When teachers report on your child’s progress, you will see some revisions to the reporting interface for some subjects.
Benefits for students
- Access to the essential knowledge and skills to be successful lifelong learners
- A better learning transition from the early years to primary school
- The necessary knowledge and skills to follow chosen senior secondary pathways
- A streamlined curriculum and higher-quality teaching and learning provisions
Reporting
What you see as a parent on your child’s report for most subjects, cross-curriculum priorities and capabilities will remain unchanged from previous years.
For Mathematics, a significant change in the interface that you will see as a parent will occur.
Previously the teacher reported against the 3 strands of the achievement standard for Mathematics.
- Number and Algebra
- Measurement and Geometry, and
- Statistics and Probability
Under the Mathematics curriculum 2.0, your child’s teacher will report against the achievement standard, providing a single, aggregated score. There will be no mark from previous reports for Mathematics as this will be the first time it is reported this way.
The VCAA made these changes to:
- Help teachers plan their teaching and learning programs in mathematics, giving them more flexibility to support students to link ideas within mathematics and with other curriculum areas.
- Give parents a genuine comparison of their child’s progress in Mathematics from semester to semester.
The pictures below show how our Mathematics reports were previously presented and what you can expect for Semester 1 in 2025.

Featuring none other than WNBL superstar Abbey Wehrung!
This is a rare opportunity for young female athletes to grow their skills, learn from a professional, and be inspired by one of the best in the game.
The camp will take place on Sunday, 6th July in Camperdown ARVO TIMES only (venue details are in the attached flyer). It’s open to girls of all skill levels who are eager to build confidence, learn new skills, and have fun in a supportive environment. Please book using trybooking as there are limited spaces.
https://www.trybooking.com/DBMWC
Session Times:
- 2:00 PM – 3:00 PM (Ages 5–9)
- 3:30 PM – 4:30 PM (Ages 10 and up)
Abbey is one of Australia’s elite basketball talents, having played for WNBL powerhouses like the Canberra Capitals, Bendigo Spirit, and Adelaide Lightning. A former Australian Opal, she’s known for her precision shooting and on-court leadership. Abbey has proudly represented Australia on the international stage, helping secure a bronze medal at the FIBA Women’s Asia Cup and gold with the Emerging Opals.
Off the court, Abbey’s impact is just as inspiring. After losing her mum to breast cancer, she rode 260km on horseback across regional Victoria to raise awareness and funds for breast cancer research — a true reflection of her strength, passion, and heart.
At Wolfpack Hoops, we’re passionate about growing the game and ensuring that girls in regional areas have access to world-class coaching and opportunities. This camp is all about building confidence, community, and a love for basketball.
